The Jain Education Society (JES), Mumbai, founded in 1943 by Shri Chimanbhai Chakubhai Shah and Shri Durlabhjibhai Khetani, aimed to support bright students from Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra in pursuing higher education. JES provided hostel accommodation, scholarships, and financial assistance, benefiting approximately 4,000 students. As a pre-independence charitable organization, JES has made significant contributions to Jain community education. It ran a Gujarati Medium School at Chirabazar, Mumbai, for over 30 years and currently operates three boys' hostels, a school in Rajkot, and various educational assistance programs. JES plays a vital role in nation-building by fostering educated, resourceful, and successful students.
Presently JES has taken a magnanimous project of building a hostel for 120 girls and center for learning at Ghatkopar(Mumbai) to be known as "ARUNIKA" (Shri Arunkumar R Mehta Centre Of Learning).
