About Jain Education Society (JES), Mumbai

The Jain Education Society (JES), Mumbai, established in 1943, is a pre-independence charitable organization founded by prominent Jain businessmen and professionals, including Shri Chimanbhai Chakubhai Shah (Solicitor) and Shri Durlabhijibhai Khetani (Industrialist & Freedom Fighter), among other stalwarts of the Sthanakvasi Jain Community.

Our Mission

Initially, JES aimed to provide hostel accommodation and financial assistance to bright Jain students from Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra pursuing higher education in fields such as Medicine, Engineering, Science, Chartered Accountancy, Liberal Arts, and Architecture. Over the past 78 years, JES has significantly contributed to the education of Jain community students.

Achievements

Hostel Facilities: More than 4,000 students have pursued higher education while staying in JES hostels.

Scholarships and Financial Assistance: JES has provided substantial scholarships and financial support to deserving students.

Educational Institutions: JES ran a Gujarati Medium School in Chirabazar, Mumbai, for over 30 years and currently operates a school in Rajkot, Gujarat, with approximately 2,500 students annually.

Shri C.B. Mehta Jain Hostel

Established in 1943.
Located at Wadala, Mumbai.
Accommodates 75 students.

Shri K.R. Sanghrajka & Brothers Jain Hostel

Established in 1955.
Located at Wadala, Mumbai.
Accommodates 75 students.

Shri Gulabchand Talakchand Sheth School

Established in 1972.

Located in Rajkot, Gujarat.
Educates over 2,500 students annually.

Shri Gambhirchand Umedchand Shah Jain Hostel

Established in 2010.
Located in Anand, Vallabh Vidhyanagar, Gujarat.
Accommodates 100 students with modern facilities.

Book Bank: Provides necessary textbooks to needy students.

Loan Scholarships: Offers loan scholarships to deserving students for higher education.

New Project: Educational Institution for Girl Students

JES is dedicated to setting up educational institutions for girl students at Ghatkopar (East), Mumbai. The project includes:
Land Acquisition: A plot of 1,425 sq. meters, generously donated by the Shri Nagindas Amulakhrai Mehta Gram and Gram Udyog Vikas Trust.
Key Benefactors: Late Shri Dhirubhai Mehta (CA), Late Shri Sevantibhai Shah, and Dr. (Ms.) Yashumati M. Mehta.
Construction: Commenced in March 2021, with all necessary permissions and approvals in place.
